This interactive workshop will enable you to distinguish the role of a director from the roles of other actors involved in the management and oversight of a business, and explore the link between a director’s duty towards the company and their potential personal liability.

This practical session will explore the top five things every director must know, looking at the following questions:

1. Who is a director?
2. What do directors do?
3. What authority does a board have?
4. What personal liabilities do directors have?
5. What is a conflict of interest?

Having completed this session, the delegate should be able to:

1. Distinguish the role of a director from those of the other actors involved in the management and oversight of an organisation.
2. Understand the link between a director’s duty towards the company and their potential personal liability as directors.

Strategic Change, Making it Happen - Morning Course 2

While many boards invest time in formulating strategy, successful implementation relies on considering the most effective approach to leading the planning, implementation and review of strategic change.

This highly interactive session will position the strategic change process and share examples of best practice in the leadership of strategic change. We will enable participants to share their practical experiences of making strategy happen and develop a map of activities at each phase of the process.

This workshop is designed to enable attendees to explore the dynamics exhibited at board level, with specific reference to board meetings. It will give delegates the opportunity to reflect on and share their own experiences, refine their approach to board meetings in order to gain confidence, and achieve more productive personal and business outcomes.

Having completed this session, the delegate should be able to:

1. Distinguish board dynamics from the dynamics of other management teams2. Recognise positive board meeting dynamics and support the development of positive dynamics on your own board

Getting the Best out of your Board - Afternoon Course 2

It is essential that the performance of any team is regularly reviewed and the board of directors is no exception. Poor performance by the board can have serious consequences, preventing the organisation from achieving its potential – ultimately, it could result in its failure. An effective board evaluation process is a key driver of improved performance at organisational, board and individual director level.

Having completed this session, the delegate should be able to:

1.Describe the key benefits of conducting a board evaluation
2.Outline the main attributes of an effective board evaluation process
