Business experience
Joy is
a Chartered Director, and has specialised in governance and board
leadership development for the last 15 years. Prior to starting her own business, Joy
was a chief executive for over a decade. Joy’s interest in governance
came about as a result of working with CEOs and the realisation that
improving the skills of board members is essential for ensuring
organisational performance and developing a healthy working culture.
Joy has over 25 years’ experience as a board member in a range of sectors. She chairs the board of Morrow Communications Ltd and was a non-executive director of the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, one of the largest trusts in Europe, with 20,000 staff and an annual budget in excess of £1 billion, for seven years. Joy chaired the board of Simon Community NI for two years and VOYPIC (Voice of Young People in Care) for two years. She sat on the board of the Fostering Network UK for four years, Alzheimer’s Society for four years, and was a non-executive director of the Ulster Community & Hospitals Trust for seven years.
Professional credentials and training experience
Joy became a Chartered Director after achieving
both the Certificate and Diploma in Company Direction. She holds a masters
degree in executive leadership and a masters level qualification in
executive
coaching
and leadership mentoring. Joy regularly delivers governance
training and support to boards in the private, public and voluntary
sector.
