How to protect inventions and patents

The way to protect an invention and thus provide the inventor with a legally enforceable monopoly right in it is to seek the grant of a patent.

Before going any further, this is one subject that really does need to come with a ‘health warning’ to the enthusiastic amateur. The Reader should note that patenting is not an easy subject and, generally, should not consider proceeding too far without seeking the advice of a patent attorney or other appropriately qualified person.
