Data Governance for Directors
Practical workshop for understanding the issues, challenges and benefits of taking a strategic approach to data governance.
This course, developed in partnership with the Open Data Institute (ODI), focuses on director knowledge and skills in relation to data governance and how treating data as an asset supports your business strategy. You will gain practical skills and techniques in data governance that can be immediately applied to your organisation.
This course will give you the knowledge and skills to:
- understand the difference between data governance and data management
- describe key roles and accountabilities for data governance
- identify common barriers to implementing a data governance framework
- list and explain policies and processes needed to support data governance
Using real-world scenarios and case studies, you will gain an in-depth understanding of data governance and how it supports business strategy. You will understand common barriers to implementing a data governance framework and how to apply a framework to your context. You will be able to develop your own action plan for your organisation in terms of how to access, use and share data as an asset.
