IoD Scotland Chair announced as new Chair of Revenue Scotland

25 Mar 2021

IoD Scotland Chair Aidan O’Carroll has been announced as the new Chair of Revenue Scotland.

He will take up the role from 1 August 2021, replacing Dr Keith Nicholson, who has chaired Revenue Scotland since it was established in 2015, and will complete his second term as Chair in July.

Revenue Scotland was established on 1 January 2015 as the authority for the devolved taxes in Scotland.  It has responsibility for the collection and management of Land and Buildings Transaction Tax (LBTT) and Scottish Landfill Tax (SLfT).  As a Non-Ministerial Office, it is accountable to Parliament, but managed by a Board and Executive team.

Aidan O’Carroll said:

“I am delighted to be joining the Board at Revenue Scotland and helping to build on the great work that has already been achieved. It is a great honour to be taking on the role of Chair in August.”

Scottish Minister for Trade, Innovation and Public Finance, Ivan McKee said:

“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Aidan O’Carroll, who will take up this important role on 1 August and provide strategic leadership as Revenue Scotland builds on the success of the first six years as Scotland’s devolved tax authority.”
