Since the General Election, there has been a noticeable uptick in the level of engagement between business and Government, with a number of groups set up across Whitehall to ensure the voice of enterprise is heard loud and clear.
In addition to the working group chaired by Greg Clark, the Business Secretary, the ‘Brexit Business Taskforce’ jointly hosted by Clark, David Davis and the Chancellor and the Prime Minister’s new Business Advisory Group, Liam Fox, the International Trade Secretary, has recently hosted a number of business leaders to discuss the UK’s future trade prospects once we’ve left the EU.
Fox wrote to those in attendance, including the IoD’s Director General Stephen Martin, to thank them for participating and to give IoD members an update on the work of the Department which has just passed its first birthday.
The IoD’s Policy Unit continues to push the views of IoD members across Whitehall as we approach this pivotal time for the economy. With business seeking certainty about our future relationship with Europe and looking for reasons to be confident in the domestic economy, the IoD’s monthly tracker of business sentiment – through Policy Voice, our survey platform for members – is becoming ever more listened to across Government.
