The arrival of firms like Uber, Lyft and Gett have resulted in more competition, higher service, and lower prices in many of Britain’s cities, but they are not without their regulatory challenges.
It is important that when new firms are regulated, or existing regulations are tweaked, they are inclined towards innovation rather than constraint. The IoD argued this point in response to proposed TfL regulations which would have erected significant barriers to entry to new firms moving into the private hire space.
The IoD believes that the overarching spirit of this review is unfriendly to entrepreneurialism, innovation and competition.
