IoD response to GCSE content consultation by the Department for Education

The IoD welcomes the government’s push for more challenging and rigorous qualifications to address long-standing business concerns about declining standards in education. But we call for more to be done in GCSE English and maths to improve young people’s achievement in functional literacy and numeracy, a significant weakness in the current system.
