North West Chair Mike Perls has helped co-ordinate a private sector led mission to San Francisco of some of the most significant technology leaders from across the Northern Powerhouse.
A 30 strong delegation will board the first Virgin Atlantic direct flight from Manchester following a Ministerial reception on 28 March. The group is being led by two serial technology entrepreneurs, Scott Fletcher MBE of ANS Group and Dr Adam Beaumont of telecoms platform business AQL. The delegation includes a mix of Northern businesses including Sage and Co-op digital as well as mid stage tech firms such as Wakelet, Vis VR, Vibe Tickets and One Iota. It’s also being supported by the University of Central Lancashire and Manchester Metropolitan University and in partnership with Manchester Airport, Virgin Atlantic and the Department for International Trade.
Mike Perls, Chair of IOD North West said “We’ve turned a typical trade mission on its head. This has been created by the private sector for the private sector – with government backing. We’ve set our own objectives and will deliver genuine outcomes. On our return, I’d be delighted to host any interested parties in an event to explore the learnings that we bring back from Silicon Valley.”
