General Election 2017: What matters to business

Politics is once again centre-stage, with the second General Election in just two years now looming upon us.

Theresa May has said that her reason for calling the vote is to try to strengthen her hand before the up-coming Brexit negotiations, but from the business point of view, the UK’s departure from the EU can’t be the only issue on the table.

IoD members need to know where the parties stand on key areas like making our transport, energy and broadband infrastructure fit for the future, ensuring our education system is ready for the changing nature of work, including the gig economy and automation, and reforming our tax system to boost the UK’s long-term competitiveness.

This is an important time for the country and for business. We will ensure we’re your voice in this vital debate on the direction of the UK economy.

Director General
