What was the main challenge you experienced as a business leader before joining the IoD?
"My main challenge was attracting and retaining talent when growing a business based in the North East. I was also looking to grow the business to achieve a national presence."

"IoD 99 provides a fantastic support network where you can chat through your problems with other young entrepreneurs. Business opportunities have been generated through the network which has certainly helped us grow."

"I have been a member for one year."

"There is a great camaraderie between the members."

How has being a part of the IoD 99 network helped you scale up your start-up?
"We’ve been running 8 years but are effectively a start-up in London as I have only just started to grow my business down there. IoD 99 has provided a platform for me to build relationships and provided facilities for meetings."

"IoD 99 is a great way of attracting younger directors to IoD. Fresh young people with vibrant ideas is vital to its future."

"It means freedom, creativity, resilience and a lot of hard work."

"Just join; there’s so much value you can get out of it. I’ve recommended it to a lot of other young business owners already."
If you could give one piece of advice to fellow entrepreneurs, what would it be and why?
“The one piece of advice I would give is that ‘behaviour is more important than beliefs’. My reason for this is that although beliefs are important (particularly belief in yourself), they don’t get things done; behaviour does."
