IoD Sussex appoints Julie Kapsalis as Ambassador

The Institute of Directors (IoD) has appointed Julie Kapsalis as Ambassador for Education and Skills in Sussex.

Julie said: “I’m delighted to join the IoD Ambassadorial team and look forward to helping the Education and Skills sector engage with directors and local businesses to tackle challenges and demands in this sector through regular communication and engagement”.

Julie Kapsalis is Chair (Equality and Diversity Champion) of Coast to Capital LEP and has worked in economic development for over 15 years with a particular focus on enterprise, skills and social inclusion. She served as an advisor to the UK Government’s task force on women’s enterprise and has recently contributed to the Rose Review of Female Entrepreneurship including developing the expert in residence programme and the pilot to gender disaggregate LEP data.

She is a Board Member at Gatwick Diamond Business and Trustee of the Worthing Theatres & Museum. She is former Chair of the Chichester Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Julie is Managing Director of Chichester College Group with responsibility for a portfolio of commercial businesses including a chain of childcare nurseries, examination board and international education.

Julie previously worked as director at the South East England Development Agency, managing a portfolio of contracts including Business Link and Finance South East. Prior to this she has a background in consumer marketing and PR. In 2012 she fulfilled a long-held ambition to work on the London 2012 Olympics and managed a legacy programme to encourage volunteering and community engagement in sport.

The IoD also recently named Julie as the recipient of the Equality and Diversity award, as part of its prestigious Director of the Year (London, South and South West) awards 2021. Where judges were looking for examples of projects already in place to promote diversity and inclusion which results in a positive impact on organisational culture and new initiatives.
