Scotland’s Fintech ecosystem leading the way in talent, tech and collaboration
FinTech Scotland by way of introduction was established by the financial services sector, universities and Scottish Government and was set up to ensure Scotland capitalises on its fintech opportunities in a positive economic and social way.
Nicola will be walking members through the challenges and opportunities SME’s face within Scotland’s fast paced evolving sector, discussing the art of the possible and presenting the capabilities and emerging talents within the Fintech sector. Looking particularly at the routes to market and sharing FinTech’s experience and knowledge on how businesses can take advantage of emerging innovations this event will be a unique opportunity for members to explore what impacts and opportunities this may have for their own organisations.
ESG, is never far from discussion and neither should it be, Nicola will be highlighting the impacts and awareness we should all have in the boardroom when it comes to technological advancement with a measured environmental impact.

The event will conclude with an informal Innovation Challenge workshop giving members the opportunity to feed into an innovation call for action, using lived experiences and insights to inform potential technology enabled products or services, that could support the business community on their journey to Net Zero.

Nicola Anderson
Nicola Anderson is the CEO of FinTech Scotland, a strategic cluster management organisation that works across the private, public and third sectors, as well as academia to enable economic growth and inclusion in developing digital financial services.
Through her career Nicola has worked across the public and private sectors and her experience has involved leading business and organisational development with an emphasis on innovation, collaboration and customer focused strategies.
At FinTech Scotland Nicola is leading the development of the fintech cluster with a focus on driving impactful and collaborative initiatives to advance fintech innovation and adoption across the digital economy, and building an inclusive and international fintech cluster focused on improved economic, social and environmental outcomes.
Nicola is passionate about the inclusive role fintech research and innovation can play in the future digital economy and the opportunity available across the UK through innovation. In 2021 she worked on developing the FinTech Scotland Research and Innovation roadmap to help accelerate the development of fintech innovation across Scotland and the UK. A pioneering tool, this roadmap supports the recommendations set out in the UK FinTech Review led by Ron Kalifa and is enabling greater industry collaboration through the action plan and leadership framework.
In addition to her role at FinTech Scotland, Nicola is part of the team leading the Global Open Finance Centre of Excellence, a collaborative initiative with the University of Edinburgh aimed at developing further fintech innovation through Open Finance Data. In other strategic collaborations Nicola has connected regulatory, legal and cyber expertise with the fintech cluster including strategic engagement with Police Scotland, Scottish Business Resilience Centre, ScotlandIS and UK regulators as well as an advisory role with LawTech Scotland.
