Speakers

Gareth Lewis, Real Estate Director, PwC United Kingdom

Gareth is the Survey Director for the PwC Emerging Trends in Real Estate series, conducted in association with the Urban Land Institute (ULI).

He has led many successful European and global projects on behalf of the property sector, engaging senior people from inside and outside the industry and reporting to a Management Board of quoted property company CEOs and investors.

His areas of expertise include real estate, finance, EU regulation, accounting, taxation, global REIT regimes, performance reporting, sustainability, industry standards, policy development, communication strategies and public affairs. He is an experienced public speaker and media commentator, well known for energy, enthusiasm and commitment to delivering the highest quality results.

Ian Fletcher, Director of Policy (Real Estate), British Property Federation

Ian is Director of Policy at the BPF, where he focuses on development and housing policy. He was part of the Montague Review that paved the way for Build-to-Rent, and champions that sector. He helped Government change the law on client money and assists in setting standards for student accommodation. He was a member of the Affordable Housing Commission, is an honorary Fellow of the IRPM, and Fellow of the RSA.

Ian was previously Head of Policy and Chief Economist at the British Chambers of Commerce. His career started in banking and teaching. He holds professional qualifications in finance and market research.

Shravan Joshi MBE, City of London Planning & Transportation Chairman

Shravan is presently the Chairman of the Planning & Transportation Committee and a Member of the Policy and Resources Committee. He is also the Policy Lead for High Growth Markets for the City of London Corporation.

He has served since 2018 as an elected member at the City Corporation and has held various positions including, Deputy Chairman of the Licensing Committee, Deputy Chairman of the Streets and Walkways Sub-Committee & Deputy Chairman of the Property Investment Board.

Shravan started his career in investment banking but moved to the energy sector in 1999. He specialised in trade structuring and supply chain contracts into Central Asia, Eastern Europe, the Far East and North America. He has worked with several new energy technology companies, and currently advises firms on policy, governance and commercialisation of new innovations and solutions.

William Hobbs, Head of UK Multi Asset Wealth, Barclays

William Hobbs joined Barclays in October 2005, and is the Head of UK Multi-Asset Wealth Team for Barclays Private Bank & Wealth Management. Will leads the team focussed on the core aspects of the Investment offering, setting the BUK Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA), Tactical Asset Allocation (TAA), Investment Philosophy and delivering Investment content. The CIO Team is the home of investment decisions which form and deliver our best thinking portfolios.

William is a fellow of the Securities Institute and has close to 20 years of experience in the financial sector. He has Masters degrees in International Business and Economic Development from Birkbeck, University of London and Economic History from LSE. He is also a Chartered Alternative Investments Analyst. Will is a frequent contributor of economic and capital market’s insight to Bloomberg, CNBC and various other media outlets.
