Speakers

Andrew Roberts

Andrew qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1986 and has spent his entire professional career advising, and working with, a wide range of owner managed businesses and high net worth individuals. His depth of experience enables him to specialise in problem solving, be that complex tax issues, business management & restructuring, acquisition, growth and exit planning, or simply assisting with and advising on the multitude of day-to-day problems encountered by modern businesses. He is a co-founder of Buckland Steadman & Roberts Chartered Accountants, the firm we know today as BSR Bespoke.

He advises on all aspects of UK tax planning covering both corporate and personal taxes on income, capital gains and inheritance taxes, SDLT and VAT, particularly in relation to land and property transactions.

In his spare time, Andrew is passionate about motorcycles and classic cars. He has now retired from his part time role as an advanced motorcycle instructor but still regularly travels in the UK and Europe on two wheels or four, either solo or as the tour organiser for various groups.

Gillian Palmer: Managing Director of Lending Made Simple and founder of The Finance Hub

What makes Gillian so great at finding finance and cashflow facilities to help her business loan customers is that she’s been on the front line.

Having started, grown and sold successful businesses herself, Gillian understands the flexible, nimble, affordable solutions, support and expertise that business owners and entrepreneurs need to fulfil their visions.
But she’s also honest to the tips of her stilettoes – if she doesn’t think a business loan is the right thing for your business circumstances, she’ll explain why, and help you find a solution that better matches your business needs.

When Gillian’s not helping her commercial customers grow their businesses, you’re likely to spot her in her trademark red, catching up with friends and business associates and making new friends wherever she goes. Is there anyone in the Tunbridge Wells business community Gillian doesn’t know?!

Ian Steadman

Ian graduated from the University of Wales in 1981 with a joint honours degree in Economics and Accountancy, winning the university’s economics prize for that year. He then trained with Deloittes in London before moving to a provincial practice in Tonbridge to gain small firm experience.

In 1990 Ian jointly founded the practice that was to become BSR Bespoke Chartered Accountants and has specialisms in management consultancy and tax advice for non-UK domiciled clients and ex-pats.

Ian is a keen motorcyclist, pretends he can play the guitar and is a general sports fanatic. He is also an active Rotarian.
