IoD celebrate Black History Month with an evening with Dr Inez Brown - IoD Regional Chair

Dr Inez Brown will be interviewing special guests Bishop Rose Hudson-Wilkin MBE and Wade Lyn CBE

IoD Central celebrates Black History Month with Dr Inez Brown who invites you to join her at Aston university where she was conferred an honorary doctorate in July 2023.

Inez will be interviewing Bishop Rose Hudson-Wilkin MBE, Bishop of Dover (overseeing the Diocese of Cantebury), Chaplain to the Queen and House of Commons, and listed in the 2020 and 2021 Black Power list and Wade Lyn CBE, Honorary Jamaican Consul, High Sheriff of West Midlands 2023, owner of Celone Foods Ltd, Business Ambassador for the West Midlands. 

Dr. Brown will explore their inspirational journeys to breaking glass ceilings.

Lois Moodie, gospel singer and semi-finalist on the BBC's The Voice, will be singing.

Speakers

Bishop Rose-Hudson Wilkin MBE, Bishop of Dover

Bishop Rose Hudson-Wilkin was born in Montego Bay Jamica. She has smashed glass ceilings several times in her long illustrious career – the first black woman to become a Church of England Bishop, appointed Chaplain to the Queen and Speaker of the House of Commons, appointed an MBE and listed in 2020 and 2021 Powerlist as one of the most influential people in the UK of African/African-Caribbean descent.

Lois Moodie

Lois Moodie is a professional gospel singer. She is currently a vocal coach and is studying music at university. Lois is a semi-finalist on the BBC Voice Show 2020. She has been fortunate to sing with a number of famous gospel singers

Wade Lyn CBE, West Midlands High Sheriff, Honorary Jamaican Consul and owner of Cleone Foods Ltd.

Wade Lyn was born in Jamaica. He owns and operates Cleone Foods, Ltd, manufacter and distributor of one of the UK’s most popular brands of Jamaican patties ‘Island Delight’. Awarded a CBE, recognised as small businessman of the year, appointed as Business Ambassador for West Midlands by Prince Charles and is the current High Sheriff for the West Midlands 2023.
