ESG and Colchester Foodbank tour
Colchester Foodbank provides short-term emergency support to individuals and families in a crisis within Colchester and the surrounding area, including Brightlingsea and Tiptree.
Emergency food parcels are what clients go to them for, but this year has been different.
Clients are returning to them for support, as the crisis they face has become ongoing. They have more clients turning with the working poor, people on low incomes unable to afford the essentials.
Their support now reaches beyond food to include wrap around support services that are offered at the foodbank, working collaboratively with other agencies. Working together with other local foodbanks and service providers and regularly review their areas of coverage in response to need.
Where possible they refer or signpost people to relevant agencies, so they can get the additional help they need. This enables them to more fully understand the reality of their issues and how to move forward in life.
