Panel discussion aiming to help you understand current trends, regulation, targets and support available.

We are pleased to host an evening panel discussion featuring representatives from the local business community.

The event will be moderated by Ieda Gomes Yell, Chair of the ESG Subcommittee I(oD Isle of Man) and NED.

Discussion will focus on

• Isle of Man climate change targets in the near and midterm. • An overview of international trends and directives on ESG and climate change, including the frameworks for accounting of Scopes 1, 2, and 3, and the growing importance of biodiversity and the circular economy. • How Isle of Man local and international businesses are preparing for ESG and climate change and what they can do to support local businesses. • The global landscape and the resulting roles of Directors with ESG.

Speakers

Aly Lewin – Head of Climate Change, Isle of Man Government

Aly leads the Climate Change Team to ensure delivery of the Climate Change Plan, enforce the Climate Change Act and make sure the Island plays its part in reducing global temperatures.

Prior to embarking on the challenge of net zero, Aly worked in policy at the Department for Enterprise, researching the skills gap and ways to encourage an entrepreneurial ecosystem.

With 15 years’ experience in Marketing and Comms, Aly takes a keen interest in behaviour change science and engagement and is just embarking on an internal comms plan to encourage climate action across Government’s various Departments Boards and Offices.

Greg Easton – Managing Director Isle of Man, Ravenscroft

Greg Joined Ravenscroft in January 2023 as Managing Director of the Isle of Man business.Greg is an ESG investment veteran with over 15 years of knowledge, expertise and international experience providing sustainable investment solutions for private and institutional clients.

He holds the CFA UK Diploma in Investment Management (ESG), the CFA Certificate in Climate and Investing and is a STEP Affiliate Member. In 2022 he received a highly commended award in the Sustainable Director of the Year category at the Isle of Man IoD Awards.He is a vocal advocate for sustainable investing with a focus on climate and biodiversity.

Nigel Cheesley – Senior Manager ESG & Sustainability – Lloyds Bank International

Nigel is responsible for leading and delivering the ESG strategy for LBCM in the Islands. He joined the Group in 1988 and has spent the majority of his career in in Private Banking and Commercial roles, latterly as Head of Commercial Banking in the Isle of Man.

Prior to moving to the Island in 2013, Nigel played a key role in setting up the group’s subsidiary bank in Gibraltar to enable passporting throughout the European Union.

In addition to acting as a Resident Officer for LBCM, Nigel is a Trustee Director of the Lloyds Offshore Pension Scheme and is a member of the scheme’s Investment Committee.

Simon Nicholas - Regional Head of ESG and IoM Office Partner – KPMG

Simon has been championing ESG in the Isle of Man and Channel Islands for a number of years by creating a multi-island ESG team, as well as leading KPMG IMPACT, a 4 pillar approach that covers People, Planet, Prosperity and Governance which has seen KPMG undertake a number of initiatives to embed the important of ESG across the firm.

Simon leads ESG Services across the KPMG Islands Group and was awarded ‘Sustainability Director of the Year’ at the Isle of Man IoD Awards in November 2022.

Simon was the appointed lead economic strategic advisor to the Isle of Man Government for the recent Economic Strategy to drive the Islands economy over the next 10-15 years as well as leading the Isle of Man’s first sustainable finance strategic review, comparing the Island against other competing International Financial Centres.

Format

Tea and coffee will be available from 5:30pm, with a view to starting the discussion at 6:00pm. Attendees will be able to request a Certificate of Attendance.
