Speakers
John Knight
John gained a degree in Sports Studies from Newcastle Polytechnic, graduating in 1986. He then worked in outdoor education for 17 years primarily with young offenders from the North East of the UK leading expeditions to France, Canada, Romania and extensively in Norway. In a moment of more mature clarity John then realised that there was a limited future in caving, kayaking and sleeping on hillsides! This led him to studying for a Diploma in Management then followed by an MBA via distance learning from Strathclyde University.
John has worked for a number of charities as Chief Executive both in the UK and here in the Isle of Man. He is passionate about several things; at work it is to ensure that maximum impact is generated and returned to those that a charity is set up to serve, externally he has delivered many programmes around leadership, senior team facilitation and development, and then finally he loves the outdoors and in particular endurance events – within which he describes himself more as a completer rather than a competitor.
