IoD CHAIR TO DELIVER ANNUAL LECTURE ON BALANCE IN BUSINESS
Charlotte Valeur, the new Chair of the Institute of Directors (IoD), will make her first speech in Yorkshire when she delivers the annual lecture at Leeds Beckett University Business School.
Charlotte is a corporate governance expert and advocate for diversity in the boardroom, who was appointed as IoD Chair in September 2018.
The lecture, entitled ‘What about the Balance?’, takes place at 5.30pm on 5 March at the Rose Bowl, Leeds. It will be followed by an exclusive dinner at Tattu held in partnership with Corporate Intelligence, attended by Charlotte and a host of business leaders and captains of industry.
Charlotte has been a director of seven public companies and founded Board Apprentice, a not-for-profit organisation that gives individuals hands-on experience at the top of business. She was cited in the Government’s recent reviews on ethnic and gender diversity in UK boardrooms as a resource for bringing about real change.
Charlotte will give an insight on how organisations could grow by taking on-board those from different backgrounds with different views. She will outline how a more balanced structure can lead to a better functioning board and teams that deliver work that can take a business to the next level.
Before entering the field of governance, Charlotte worked in finance, where she has over 30 years’ experience including stints with Societe Generale, BNP-Paribas, and S.G. Warburg. She grew up in Copenhagen and speaks six languages.
Entry to the lecture is free to all. Contact Beata Olah at email@example.com to secure your place.
Jon Geldart, Chair of the IoD in Yorkshire and the Humber, said: “Charlotte doesn’t just talk the talk when it comes to diversity. She has already made a big difference through Board Apprentice, and is continuing in this vein as Chair of the IoD. We’re delighted to welcome Charlotte to Yorkshire and can’t wait for what promises to be a fascinating lecture."
Earlier that day, Charlotte will speak at a Women in Business and Leadership round table to celebrate International Women’s Day with Yorkshire Asian Business Association and Forward Ladies.
The invite-only event, held at global law firm Squire Patton Boggs in Leeds, will explore how women can harness the growth of technology to support a blended work life balance. It will also discuss strategies to increase diversity within business.
