IoD Appoints Andrew Palmer as Ambassador

15 Mar 2017

IoD Yorkshire new Ambassador

The Institute of Directors (IoD) has appointed Andrew Palmer as an Ambassador for the Harrogate district.

The Ambassador network consists of high-profile business leaders who represent and promote the IoD in their area and grow the region’s voice on national policy matters.

Andrew is the chief executive of North of England Excellence (NoEE), a not-for-profit membership organisation that helps businesses on the journey to excellence through collaboration, networking and training.

He was a director of business organisation CBI in Yorkshire and the Humber and, more recently, Scotland.

The University of Sheffield graduate has also worked as a bio-medical scientist with the National Blood Authority and a business journalist on the Yorkshire Post.

He said: “I have a passion for helping individuals and organisations to succeed and achieve their full potential. That is one of the IoD’s core propositions so I’m delighted to come on board.”

Jon Geldart, chairman of the IoD in North Yorkshire, said: “Andrew will be a tremendous asset to the IoD in North Yorkshire. I’m looking forward to working with him as we grow our membership base and support directors with first-class events and learning.”

This year, the IoD launched IoD Advance, the biggest shake-up to its membership in 40 years, taking advantage of technology to bring directors together to learn, network and share best practice.

Other IoD Ambassadors include Caroline Pullich, who leads Barclays Business and Corporate Bank in West Yorkshire, Wakefield businessman Hugh Taylor and Surfachem managing director Richard Smith.
