Hyperloop expert and LEP Chair sign up for transport debate.
A leading former figure from Virgin Hyperloop One will join LEP chair Roger Marsh as the guest speakers at the Institute of Directors’ New Year business breakfast.
Hyperloop is a new mode of transport that carries passengers or cargo in pods. The pods travel inside a low-pressure tube using magnetic levitation at speeds of up to 1,000 kmh.
Dr Alan James served as the first VP of Global Business Development at Virgin Hyperloop One. He is partner at Expert Alliance, the Northumberland-based specialist strategic infrastructure practice.
Dr James will be joined by Roger Marsh OBE, chair of the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership, for a debate that will focus on the future of transport and infrastructure. Roger is the IoD’s National Council member for Yorkshire and the North East.
The breakfast is on 10 January at the West Park Hotel, Harrogate, starting at 8.30am, and is open to both IoD members and non-members.
As well as hearing how technology could transform transport, guests can join the discussion and feedback their views to Whitehall via the IoD’s influential Policy Voice.
Natalie Sykes, regional director of the IoD in Yorkshire and the North East, said: “This is an unmissable opportunity to hear about the present and future of transport in our region. We are thrilled to have two such illustrious speakers with us for our first business breakfast of 2019 and can’t wait to welcome guests for networking and a fascinating discussion.”
Tickets for the events, starting at 8.30am, are £10 for IoD members, £15 for non-members
