Herwig Vennekens of Haribo has been crowned overall winner at the Director of the Year Awards for Yorkshire and the North East.

Vennekens received his trophy at a black-tie dinner organised by the Institute of Directors and attended by around 200 guests at The Principal York hotel.

Vennekens joined Dunhills Ltd, the manufacturer of Haribo sweets such as Starmix and Tangfastics, in 2007 and has led a strategy that has seen year-on-year growth and the construction of a new factory near Castleford.
