John Phillips Retires After 23 Years
21 Apr 2016
Our good friend and colleague, John Phillips - Regional Director of the West Midlands from 1993-2016, has this week retired after a sterling 23-year career with the IoD.
John was the very first IoD "Regional" employee and over the years has made a significant contribution both to members, and to business generally, in the West Midlands.
Whilst John will no longer be employed by the IoD in the West Midlands, with Calum Nesbit coming onboard as new Regional Director of the West Midlands team, he will still be on-board as a hugely respected & valued volunteer committee member, continuing to mentor and support Students at the University of Wolverhampton, on their business journeys, and generously giving of his time and experience.
John leaves us having made a demonstrable contribution to the careers & lives of many members, that will leave a lasting impression in the local community.
One of John's final acts with us, was to move the IoD Hub in the West Midlands into the Library of Birmingham, an iconic building, providing IoD members with a convenient, recognisable and flexible meeting space in the City.
I would like to thank John personally for his support during my time with the IoD, and I have no doubt that he will continue to selflessly give back to the community in the same positive, cheerful and enthusiastic manner he has for many years.
Thank you John, we shall all miss you.
Head of Regions & Branches, IoD
