Could you be the next IoD South Regional Chair?
Our current Regional Chairman, David Seall CEng, FRAeS, MiMMM, comes to the end of his term of office in the Spring of 2017, and we are taking this early opportunity to start the search for his successor.
This is a rewarding and respected Senior volunteer role, bringing with it the opportunity to become the lead “voice”, profile and Ambassador of the IoD in the South region. The Chair also plays a key role in leading the Regional Ambassadorial team, in their mission to represent the IoD and its members, and supported by a strong, passionate National & Regional Staff & volunteer team across seven county branches, namely Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire & the Isle of Wight, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Sussex.
It is a fantastic opportunity for a willing volunteer to meet and engage with IoD members across the IoD South of England region. As the Chair you will actively promote & support good governance, to help connect members & non-members across the branches & to signpost them to the IoD’s support networks - to assist them with their businesses challenges, and finally, to have their voice heard.
We are looking to recruit a Senior businessperson with a truly collegiate approach to leadership, as you will be operating across country boundaries with colleagues from many sectors, industries and styles. You will be adaptable and inspirational in your leadership and look to innovate and provide strong guidance to the South staff team, and to the Institute as a whole.
You shall have the ability to bring strong-minded groups of volunteers and members together to form a clear regional vision, aligned with the IoD’s purpose, and in line with its National policies and procedures, and supported by services provided on an established National platform; creating positive engagement opportunities across the South.
You will be active and invested in regional policy issues, forming a convivial and co-operative working relationship with our National policy experts and other colleagues across the UIK & European networks. You will communicate local members business challenges and opinions to the National team, to ensure we are truly member-centric and representative.
You will support the IoD in its mission to represent, support and develop Senior Leaders across the region and to assist the Regional Director with succession planning for our Seven Branch Chairmen and their Ambassadorial teams, covering areas such as Infrastructure, Skills & Education, Digital economy, Manufacturing, Entrepreneurialism and SME’s.
In return, you will have access to a world-class team of Policy experts, be invited to exclusive events & engagement opportunities, often with Senior decision-makers, to engage with the latest in IoD professional development. You will also receive complimentary tickets to the IoD’s annual convention.
It is hoped to confirm the appointment of the incoming Chair in time for him or her to spend time working alongside the current Chairman until the changeover in late-May 2017.
This opportunity is open to all current, active members of the IoD South region.
If you are interested in applying for this post, please send a short note of introduction and 2-page CV to Alan Fitzwater, Director of Regions and Branches (Interim).
