Nutrition and Diet Resources UK (NDR-UK) - NXD

NXD Opportunity with Scottish-based health education charity - Could you use your social enterprise expertise and an interest in health-related diet and nutrition to help us grow?

Nutrition and Diet Resources UK (NDR-UK) is a company limited by guarantee, with charitable status, being registered with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR). We produce patient information for dietitians and other health professionals to use, to help educate and support their patients to self-manage their health conditions through correct nutrition. Our resources are highly valued for the quality and presentation of the information, having been written by dietitians and other experts, following current evidence-based practice.

NDR-UK is now a well-established social enterprise, employing a small, dedicated team of four (FTE of 3.2). We are based in Glasgow but have an established customer base from across the UK, mainly in the public sector. The bulk of our income is achieved from trading – via the sales of the patient information provided in printed and electronic formats. Some additional income is also achieved through undertaking commissioned project work.

Our Board of Non-Executive Directors/Trustees collectively work to provide governance, strategic direction and support to the organisation. The current Board of six, which includes four dietitians, is looking to appoint a further Trustee/Director with complementary skills and experience to help the organisation grow and develop to meet emerging health sector challenges. Ideally, the ability to contribute in the following areas would be welcomed:

• Financial and business management expertise – within the social enterprise/charity sector could be additionally useful
• Development of opportunities in digital health
• Strategy development and Board level management and support

On a practical level, the Board meets 4 times a year, currently through tele-conferencing, although we hope to be able to return to face-to-face meetings at least once a year in the future (previously held in either Glasgow or Birmingham). This position is non-remunerated, although travel and subsistence costs are covered.

For an informal discussion about the organisation, the role and your potential interest in applying, please contact Linda McPhillie, Chief Executive, on 07898 345131.

To apply, please submit your CV with a covering letter, explaining your interest in becoming a Board Director/Trustee of NDR-UK, to linda.mcphillie@ndr-uk.org by Monday 7th June.
