Business leaders urge Raab to ‘keep eyes on the prize’

Responding to Dominic Raab’s Conservative party Conference speech, Allie Renison, Head of Europe and Trade Policy at the Institute of Directors, said:

“With the deadline fast approaching, ministers must keep their eyes on the prize of negotiating an orderly withdrawal agreement and getting a trade deal with the EU. While conference speeches will always be in part an appeal to the party faithful, businesses might have hoped for more practical emphasis on the hurdles ahead.

“Raab was right, however, to argue the EU could take more steps to facilitate no deal preparations. A no deal scenario would hurt businesses on both sides of the Channel, so collaborative planning is a must.”
