The Institute of Directors Northern Ireland (IoD NI) has selected learning disability charity Mencap as the professional body’s new charity partner, following a competitive application process.
The partnership, which runs for a year, will see IoD NI working alongside Mencap raising money for the charity’s vital programmes at the state-of-the-art Mencap Centre in South Belfast and across Northern Ireland.
Ian Sheppard, Chairman, IoD NI said:
“The IoD NI has a commitment to supporting those who need our help through our Charity of the Year. I was delighted to launch our new partnership at Mencap’s fantastic premises in Newtownbreda where I witnessed the tremendous work that is being done to support young people with learning disabilities and their families. I hope that all NI IoD members will support our fundraising efforts for Mencap throughout the coming year.”
The IoD NI recently kicked off fundraising efforts with their Diamond Anniversary Ball at Titanic Belfast, an event that raised £2,700 for the charity.
Vanessa Elder, Head of Fundraising, Mencap NI added:
“We would like to thank the IoD for selecting Mencap for this incredible partnership and we are delighted to have the opportunity to gain support from industry professionals across Northern Ireland. The money raised from the IoD will go toward a number of services including after school clubs, holiday play schemes and our upcoming family support programme which will offer bespoke guidance to families with a child diagnosed with a learning disability. We look forward to working with the IoD and we can’t wait to see all that we can accomplish with their support.&rdquo
