The Institute of Directors in Northern Ireland (IoD NI) has welcomed its 100th new member of 2018.

Leo Murphy, Principal and Chief Executive of North West Regional College, has joined the organisation in a bid to enhance the college’s existing relationships with businesses in the surrounding area and beyond.

Leo, who has more than 25 years of experience in further education, both in the classroom and in a managerial capacity, has been CEO of the college, which has campuses in Derry, Strabane and Limavady, since 2014.

He commented:

“I see joining the IoD as a fantastic opportunity for the college and for my own personal development as a leader within the institution and the wider business community.

“Having the chance to connect with other leaders, not only in the education sector but in the economy as a whole is invaluable and I look forward to availing of the many opportunities presented by the IoD.

“It is a tremendous platform to convey to businesses the important role of further education in delivering a professional and technical curriculum to support the economy in developing its skills, as well as ensuring our voice is heard at a regional and national level to make a real impact and help create a society that provides prosperity for all.”

Lisa Maltman, Business Development Manager, added:

“We are pleased to welcome Leo as our 100th new member of 2018. As a membership organisation, we have grown consistently throughout this year as we engage with businesses from across the private, public and third sectors.

“Our members, which now number more than 950, hail from across Northern Ireland and we ensure our events and networking programme reflect this as we aim is to develop better business leaders and improve corporate governance as well as seeking to be the voice of businesses amid challenging times.”
