After all the mince pies have gone (hopefully) and the cries of dieting, less wine and more walking ring out across the land we often spend this time thinking and planning for a New Me and a New Year.
This year it's definitely all change for me as I join IoD NI to look after membership and Business Development. I'm really looking forward to working with the team and know I need to be fully refreshed to keep up with the bumper programme we have planned for 2019.
By now you should have received your January – June 2019 Events Calendar....I encourage you to take some time to review the programme and get the dates in your diary You can also keep an eye on upcoming events here.
We have inspiring speakers lined up for our flagship events – including the Annual Dinner and the Women’s Leadership Conference. But equally important will be keeping on top of the expected turbulence as the UK moves (or not) towards Brexit. As part of our Connect & Influence series we will continue to provide insightful topics and events to ensure you remain fully informed.
We still have a few places left for our January events.
Our first event is entitled Business for Punks – with Terri Hooley, founder of record label and the shop Good Vibrations. Terri’s remarkable story was featured in the Good Vibrations movie and is now also on stage. Join us for what should be some colourful insight on 22nd Jan (17.30-19.30), at KPMG, Belfast . Places can be booked here.
Our next Connect & Influence event, in partnership with NIE Networks, is an opportunity to hear from Katrina Godfrey, Permanent Secretary for the Department of Infrastructure.
This event is limited to 50 guests and allows you to engage directly with the Permanent Secretary on a range of issues. Details are as follows: 25th January (12:30-14:30) Riddel Hall, Stranmillis, Belfast. Book your place here.
And for new members (renewing members can also attend) – don’t forget our New and Renew Member Lunch – on 31st January (12.00-14.00). Book your place here.
Looking forward to the rest of the year please have a look at our flagship events which are quickly filling up.
IoD NI Annual Dinner - one of the most prestigious black tie events in the business calendar. This year’s speaker is the highly entertaining and eloquent Martin McCourt.
Martin has spent over 40 years working at the heart of British-based manufacturing, design and marketing for quality brands such as Dyson, Mars, Duracell, Toshiba and Pelikan. Martin was the CEO of Dyson for 15 years. In that time he increased UK skilled jobs, grew profits to over £300m and enabled James Dyson to keep on inventing. In 2016 Martin was appointed Chairman of Glen Dimplex Group. tThis event takes place on 7th February, 18.30 start, at Crowne Plaza Belfast. More info and to book tickets here.
The IoD NI Annual Women’s Leadership Conference 2019 takes place on International Women’s Day (8th March 2019).
This conference celebrates the best in female business leadership and talent. The theme of this year’s conference is ‘The Winning Edge’. We have a superb line-up of some of NI’s top business women and influential and inspirational experts from across the UK to help you enhance your leadership skills, further build your business acumen and continue to strengthen your personal impact.
