Hello Team North West,
Summer is officially over and what an incredible few weeks we had here in the North West! We’re not quite ready to give up on the sunshine yet, so here’s a quick re-cap on some of things we’ve been up to over the last few weeks.
August kicked off with our Annual Golf Day, this time held at one of Cheshire best courses – The Tytherington Club. Our teams enjoyed 18 holes of golf in the sun, followed by a delicious two-course dinner. A great day to relax, stimulate fresh thinking and to make some great new connections. A huge congratulations to our winning team!
If you didn’t get to come, our 2020 event is already live, so make sure you bet booked in early so you don’t miss out.
In true Manchester style, we had to take it indoors for this year’s ‘summer’ BBQ. We had an incredible time nevertheless thank you to MediaCom who provided us with a fantastic indoor space. After the food, Manchester Chair, Sharon Amesu shared some of the exciting plans for IoD Manchester, including our brand new Members’ Voice Series taking place on 24th September where we invite both members and non-members to come along, meet with the committee and share your ideas for the region. We’d love to see you there.
Over 50 members and non-members joined our 3-mile netwalk on 22nd August, hosted at the fantastic Successfactory in Cheshire. After a warm welcome from Cheshire Chair, Rob McKay, we heard from Founder, Graham who shared the story of the Successfactory and how they have helped hundreds of teams to maximise their potential through ‘out of the box’ thinking. We then headed into the hills for a walk in the gorgeous Cheshire countryside before heading back to enjoy a BBQ, beers and further networking.
With potentially just weeks to go until we leave the European Union, there are steps you can take now to prepare your business.
If you haven’t already seen it, we have published a fully updated version of the highly popular Brexit Planning Guide. This document provides a baseline for understanding how Brexit could affect your organisation, setting out key questions and areas you should be considering to ensure you are as prepared as possible.
Read the guide here.
If you didn’t already know, the IoD Digital Academy is a free online learning platform for members that provides you with access to high-quality bite-sized CPD content every week.
The content focuses on a different standard of our IoD competency framework including articles, video interviews, webinars and insights from business leaders and academics that promote an understanding and the application of the standard.
Last month, North West Double Award winner, Donald Moore appeared on the IoD Academy to talk about Organisational Culture and how the ‘people before profit’ mindset has reshaped his organisation. If you’re a member and don’t use it enough, make sure you check it out here.
A quick reminder to book on to our brand new CPD 'Professional Director Series' on 25th October, we only have 10 places remaining so make sure you don’t miss out! You can read about it or book on here.
Here’s a few things we’ve got coming up over the next few months…
