Experienced businessman Hugh Taylor joins the IoD as Ambassador

02 Aug 2016

The Institute of Directors (IoD) has appointed experienced businessman Hugh Taylor as a branch ambassador for Wakefield.

The ambassador network consists of high-profile business leaders who represent and promote the IoD in their area and grow the region’s voice on national policy matters.

Hugh has a wealth of experience from senior public and private sector roles in the UK and overseas. He led and set-up a £9m turnover, public-private partnership between The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and a German private sector partner.

In addition to his knowledge of the health sector, Hugh was previously operations director for life sciences business LGC Group in Cologne, Germany, and chief operating officer for the Rural Payments Agency.
Hugh also has experience in food production, construction and logistics - key industries in the Wakefield district.
He is currently a director of Ben Place Consulting, Cherry Bank Cottages and Didsbury Lodge Management and a non-executive director of The Groundwork Trust.

Hugh said: “Business leaders have many things in common, such as the need for skilled people and reliable communication. The IoD helps companies to collaborate and I’m looking forward to playing my part in that.”
Jonathan Oxley, chairman of the IoD in Yorkshire and the Humber said: “Hugh comes on board at an exciting time for the IoD as we look to drive the Northern Powerhouse forward and reach out to more directors, young and old, who can contribute to our powerful lobbying voice on matters of national importance.”

Other IoD branch ambassadors include Caroline Pullich, who leads Barclays Business and Corporate Bank in West Yorkshire, experienced North Yorkshire director Peter Wilkinson and Hambleton and Ryedale entrepreneur Elizabeth Grant.
