Chris Clark elected as new IoD Jersey chair

02 Jul 2016

Members of the Jersey branch of the Institute of Directors (IoD) have elected Chris Clark as their new Chairman, following the organisation’s Annual Members Meeting in its 50th anniversary year.

At the AMM, held on 26th May, IoD Jersey members appointed Chris, who succeeds Wendy Dorman as Chairman, and a new-look committee to support and represent the views of members.

Chris is the CEO of business and technology consultants Prosperity 24.7. He is the founder, with over 20 years’ experience helping a range of blue chip organisations to improve their productivity through the appropriate use of technology and automation. Having been involved on the IoD Committee since 2009, Chris has been the Chair of the IoD Jersey Branch Industries sub-committee since 2015 and Deputy since 2012. He is a winner of the IoD Jersey Director of the Year Award for a medium-sized organisation and was highly commended in the same category in the UK Finals.

Coinciding with Chris’ appointment, the IoD Jersey also announced at the AMM that it would be creating a new Digital sub-committee to spearhead its activity around digital, IT and innovation, whilst details were also confirmed for its 2016 Annual Debate on 15 September, to focus on ‘future-proofing’ Jersey.

Commenting on his appointment, Chris said:

“It’s an honour to take on this role to champion the interests of our local members, particularly in such a milestone year, both locally for the branch but more importantly, in consideration of the wider implications following the recent UK referendum. I’m committed to ensuring the IoD maintains a focus on innovation and driving forward Jersey’s digital capabilities which in turn supports the IoD UK’s ‘better business, better economy’ aspirations.

“At the same time, I’m keen to continue Wendy’s fantastic work in making the IoD an inclusive organisation for such a broad cross-section of Jersey’s business community. That means engaging with our business leaders of tomorrow, encouraging diversity in business and promoting business-friendly government policies to nurture growth and innovation.

“Our debate this year ‘future-proofing’ Jersey will act as a vital public forum to discuss Jersey’s future which one could say has never been so critical or at risk, particularly in a time of such unprecedented political change across Europe. Those attending should leave informed, enthusiastic and energised to face the challenges ahead, remembering at all times that the IoD is here to support business and act as a conduit to government on matters of policy, direction, action and accountability.”

The IoD Jersey has a membership of over 630, including business leaders representing various industries including financial services, law, technology, telecommunications, retail, tourism, health and education.
