Meet the speakers:
Chief Executive, Isle of Man Financial Services Authority
Prior to her current position, Karen served over 30 years with the Canadian government in financial services regulation. Most recently, Ms. Badgerow was Senior Vice-President with the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation, heading up their Insurance and Risk Assessment Division. Before joining CDIC, Ms. Badgerow spent over 25 years with the federal banking and insurance regulator, the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, and was responsible in her last position for oversight of the federal banking sector. Ms. Badgerow has also represented Canada on a number of international committees including the Senior Supervisors Group and the FSB's Supervisory Intensity and Effectiveness Committee.
Lydia Barbara is the chair of Digital Isle of Man, a public-private partnership within the Department for Enterprise that aims to nurture and grow the Island's digital sector. She is also the founder and CEO of Curbsy, a real estate technology business. Because interest in technology starts from a young age, she is a committee member for Love Tech, a local non-profit that runs STEM events for children, as well as a volunteer for Code Club. She has a deep fascination with new technologies and their impact on society and people.

With over 20 years of financial services industry experience, Carolyn is a technical investment manager by training whose career to date has encompassed asset management, investment analysis and investment operations, before progressing into corporate governance and business and strategic development. Carolyn has a wealth of experience of small business establishment and ‘scale ups’ from family and personal investments. She currently serves as a Committee Member of the Isle of Man Branch of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce Finance & Professional Services Committee and the Institute of Directors Isle of Man branch.

Caren is a partner in the Dispute Resolution department. She is an experienced advocate and deals with a broad range of civil and commercial disputes, including fraud and asset tracing, freezing injunctions, contentious insolvency, regulatory disputes and more. Caren also specialises in employment law and is the Global Head of the Employment team. She has been actively involved in liaising with the Isle of Man Government as part of the consultation process for both the Isle of Man Law Society and the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce. Caren has recently been appointed as President for the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce.
