Owing to the impending retirement of the present chairman there is a vacancy for a Branch Chair in Belgium.
We are seeking a senior, local business leader, ideally based in or around Brussels, to take on the voluntary position of Chairman for the Institute of Directors in Belgium, which branch also has responsibility for members in Luxembourg. The position is open to all members of the branch.
This is a rewarding role bringing with it the opportunity to become “the voice” of the IoD at the heart of the EU and to play a key role in leading a reconstituted Branch Committee in representing the IoD and its members based in Belgium and Luxembourg.
This is an exciting opportunity for a willing volunteer to grow the branch, to spearhead relationships with local and international businesses, along with EU officials at this critical time while Britain prepares to leave membership of the EU. The successful candidate is expected to actively contribute to the delivery of a varied, professional events programme, and to have his or her voice heard as a full member of both the branch and any regional committee which may be established. Twice yearly visits to London and/or participation in web conferences are expected to be held for discussions with other chairmen and to be updated with developments from the executive.
Regional and branch chairmen and committee members enjoy a range of additional benefits, including complimentary tickets to the prestigious IoD annual convention. We are interested in recruiting an individual with good communication skills, charisma, an appreciation of good governance, including world-class leadership skills and a commitment to improving the conditions for local and international business, in short upholding the key tenets for which the IoD stands.
You will be the face of the IoD in Belgium and Luxembourg, with a direct accountability for being the voice of local members; dealing with local media, attending high level functions on behalf of the IoD and being both the Ambassador, and Leadership role model for the IoD in the territory.
The post of Chairman can be as extensive as you make it, within the above parameters and you will have access to support in this role from the Institute executive team at Pall Mall.
It is anticipated that you will be supported by a small committee, some already in post, who are charged with representing the IoD in such important areas as finance, events and education. It is also possible that funding may be secured for a part-time administrator, to support the operation of the Branch. Regular committee meetings are anticipated to discuss business issues and solutions, with a particular European emphasis in view of the location of the branch.
