Ipswich is one of 12 Opportunity Areas benefitting from a £6M fund from the Department for Education to increase Social Mobility in the Town.
Jordan Holder, who is the IoD Suffolk Ambassador for Education & Skills supports the Opportunity Area with his work as an Enterprise Coordinator with The Careers & Enterprise Company. The Company inspires and prepares young people for the fast-changing world of work and Jordan connects local business leaders (Enterprise Advisers) with Schools to improve their careers guidance.
Furthermore, part of The Careers & Enterprise Company’s commitment to the Opportunity Area is Cornerstone Employers. The role of a Cornerstone Employer is to commit to increasing the number of encounters students in the Opportunity Area have with the world of work. For example, Careers Fairs, Enterprise Activities, CV Workshops and many more.
The current Cornerstone Employers are: BT Adastral Park, Adecco, Dayle Bayliss Associates, John Grose, East of England Co-op, Ipswich Building Society, Morgan Sindall and Realise Futures. We want more committed employers who are ready to support the next generation in Ipswich, and are calling on IoD Members support.
On Wednesday 15th November, the Careers & Enterprise Company will be hosting an event at the University of Suffolk with current and prospective Cornerstone Employers to understand more about what employers are currently doing, along with how we can better align their work with Ipswich’s priority areas.
We look forward to seeing some IoD Members attend and encourage you to book via this Eventbrite link
