On 17th May 2018, IoD Essex held a grants matchmaking event at Colchester Stadium, bringing together IoD members, guests and other business leaders from Essex with organisations who have many hundreds of thousands of pounds of grants to award.
Knowing where to access funding isn’t always easy. Whether your business is established and looking for an injection of cash, or you are a start up and hoping to get additional support, when looking to fund a proposed plan or idea for your business it is helpful to know what grant schemes are currently available and suitable for you.
This event brought together eleven different organisaitons with grants available for a wide variety of different projects and across a broad spectrum of business sectors, with the business leaders in Essex who were often eligible for these grants without even knowing they exist. By talking directly to organisations with the funding and grants available to help their businesses develop, IoD members and guests were able to discuss their individual circumstances and gain assistance in assessing their eligibility to secure the grants.
The success of this event has meant that this grants matchmaking event will be run across the other branches of the East of England, please contact the Branch and Events Officer for your individual county to learn more.

"Thanks for inviting us along to the IoD event last week. From my point of view it was really useful: I came away with one company chomping at the bit to get involved in a KEEP and quite a few ancillary businesses like accountants and consultants who are keen to promote it to their own contacts. In terms of the format: I like that is was kept light on presentations and heavy on networking, definitely the way to go. Also good choice of venue. If you are doing any more of these, do let me know!" - Cheryl Cook, KEEP+, Marketing and Administration Manager.
"The event was very well organised and gave me a better perspective of grant programmes, and I look forward to hearing about similar events."- Mel Singh, Co-founder, Renaissance Foundation.
