The Essex branch of the Institute of Directors (IoD) has held its annual Aspirations in Business event to inspire, raise the aspirations and encourage 16 to 19 year olds to consider entrepreneurship as a career option.
This year’s event drew students from schools and colleges including Southend High for Boys, The King Edmund School and USP College, as well as Felsted School where the event was held
The day was chaired by Christine Bhatt, Chair of IoD Essex and CEO of Systematics International. The day included contributions from a number of guest speakers, including Gemma Sharpe, a recent project management apprentice at the Royal Mail Group, Steve Revill, the Commercial Director at Rickard Luckin and Baiju Solanki, CEO & Founder of EnSpirit Global.
The students also took part in an enterprise activity; organising the School Prom whilst raising funds for the school’s chosen charity and were assisted by table hosts including Joe Fitzsimons, Student Membership Manager at the Institute of Directors, Vikki Krause, Major Donor Officer at Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust and Sian Robertson, Lead Regional Manager (Essex and The East) at Career Ready. The winning team will be joining us at the IoD Essex Chair's Christmas Breakfast, in addition to becoming IoD Student Members.
Our thanks go to all the speakers, table hosts, teachers and students for supporting and getting involved in our Aspirations event with such enthusiasm and also to Felsted School for acting as such willing and helpful hosts.
