Our IoD Ambassadors are charged with leading in a chosen topic area/function that is their expertise or focus, whilst also promoting the benefits of IoD membership and the CPD route to Chartered Director.

Q: How long have you been involved with the IoD?
9 years as a member, 2 years as a committee member.
Q: Can you tell us a little about your career to date?
Over 25 years in sales and business development, employed in a number of roles from field sales up to area sales manager and head of sales. The last three years as an independent sales consultant – advises small businesses on all matters relating to sales and selling.
Q: What do you hope to achieve as an IoD Branch Ambassador?
Continue serving the business community – as in line with my sustainable business model practices.
Q: If you could give your 21 year old self some advice what would it be?
(1) Don’t rush to get old
(2) Find yourself a mentor and take onboard their hard-learned life lessons.
Q: What keeps you busy outside of work?
Volunteering: Business Ambassador & Mentor for Career Ready (delivering school content on behalf of BITC), Regional Volunteer for Crimestoppers Essex, Race Marshal for St Luke’s Hospice Basildon. Supporting my millennial son and daughter in their pursuits, e.g. my son is a 10k runner.
Work life balance is important to me. I enjoy family days out and I’m increasingly aware of the importance of maintaining some level of activity and fitness in my everyday life.
I like to build in time to play tennis or go for a jog.
Q: Are there any business related or policy issues that keep you awake at night?

To form powerful collaborative and strategic partnerships, which will benefit both their own business and local business community.
