Q: How long have you been involved with the IoD?
Just over two years.
Q: Can you tell us a little about your career to date?
I’m currently Commercial Director at the Supply Chain Academy.
The Supply Chain Academy was established to enhance Supply Chain Capability and to enable the sharing of best practice within the sector. We are the only Executive ‘business led’ education facility in the UK dedicated to delivering Supply Chain Excellence, as we are part of the Uniserve Group (the largest privately owned International logistics and freight company in the UK).
My role is to build a strategy for growing the brand, reputation and capabilities of the Supply Chain Academy nationally and internationally. This includes:
- Building high profile relationships
- Creating unique courses and consultancy products that are relevant and current to the needs of supply chain professionals
- Creating pathways to qualifications (both professional and University)
Over the last 20 years, I’ve worked in business and organisational development roles in both the public (university) and private sector, building corporate relationships and designing strategic learning & development interventions working with leading global organisations including Toshiba Tec, BAE Systems, Mitsubishi Electric, Thomson Reuters, Qatar National Bank and more.
Q: What do you hope to achieve as an IoD Branch Ambassador?
The IoD Essex branch is very proactive, with a clear vision to help their members succeed in business. They facilitate great events with interesting and relevant speakers to challenge business leaders.
I hope to support by coordinating thought leadership events, and introducing fellow directors to joining the IoD so they can meet senior business leaders and find out more about what is happening in the local and national economy and across multiple sectors.
Q: If you could give your 21 year old self some advice what would it be?
Believe in yourself!
Q: What keeps you busy outside of work?
Q: Are there any business related or policy issues that keep you awake at night?
Brexit and the worry that organisations still don’t fully understand how their supply chains work!
Q: Why do you think business leaders should join the IoD?
It’s great for networking with peers, learning about what is happening in the economy, sharing best practice and personal development.
