Q: How long have you been involved with the IoD?
Q: Can you tell us a little about your career to date?
I have worked in PR for over 20 years in various guises – starting at the European Commission in Brussels, Accenture in London and a property firm in New York. I founded my first business in my twenties, importing top quality Italian food to sell via our e-commerce business and later set up a trade arm to supply leading food halls such as Harrods, F&M, Selfridges as well as some of the top restaurants in London. After the birth of my second child I decided to launch Adia PR, helping other businesses to increase their visibility in front of their ideal clients mainly by securing press/media coverage, engaging with influencers and investors online and offline and winning industry awards.
Q: What do you hope to achieve as an IoD Branch Ambassador?
To help the branch promote their events to attract a wider audience to the excellent events hosted by IoD Essex.
Q: If you could give your 21 year old self some advice what would it be?
Trust your gut instinct and know that your hard work and commitment will pay off. Dare to dream big and dare to take risks – if you don’t start at that age it gets harder (though not impossible) later on.
Q: What keeps you busy outside of work?
My kids and DIY (I love a home DIY project).
Q: Are there any business related or policy issues that keep you awake at night?
I wouldn’t say keep me awake as I like my sleep but I am excited about the future of blockchain technology and the opportunities it will bring.
Q: Why do you think business leaders should join the IoD?
Besides the general benefits of membership, it offers the opportunity to meet likeminded business owners/leaders in your region and attend some great events. I particularly love the site visits to companies – to speak to the founders and learn about their history, experiences (good and bad), etc.
