Cyber Crime and Connectivity in the Agenda in Harrogate

Cyber crime, connectivity and the economy are to come under the spotlight at a new series of round table events for business leaders.

The Institute of Directors (IoD) has unveiled a string of business breakfasts to be held at the West Park hotel, Harrogate, starting on 13 September.

The first speaker will be Andrew Dixon, Digital Channel Manager at Barclays, who will present real life examples of businesses that have become victim to fraud and explain how to avoid joining them. The event will also explore how GDPR regulations have impacted businesses.

On 12 October, the guest speaker will be Kevin Hollinrake, MP for Thirsk and Malton, who will lead a debate on ‘Connecting our Future’. His top priorities include the A64 dual carriageway, better broadband and mobile connectivity and fairer funding for the North including more cash for infrastructure, skills, schools and healthcare.

The following month, on 8 November, attendees will be joined by Juliette Healey, the Bank of England’s Agent for Yorkshire and the Humber, for a discussion looking at the health of the UK economy and trading conditions.

Natalie Sykes, regional director of the IoD in Yorkshire and the North East, said: “This is an unmissable opportunity to connect with fellow directors, hear from leading industry speakers and debate the key issues affecting the Yorkshire economy. We will be feeding guests’ views back to our national policy team to ensure they are heard in the corridors of power.”

Tickets for the events, starting at 8.30am, are £10 for IoD members, £15 for non-members. To book a place, email iod.yorkshire@iod.com or call 0113 243 0152
