IoD Essex event review – 15 Feb 2017
Jane Gardner, Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner, provided IoD Members and guests with detailed information regarding the Police and Crime Plan for Essex including the roles and responsibilities of herself and the Police and Crime Commissioner Roger Hirst.
Essex is one of the lowest funded police forces in the UK yet is often recognise for its many successes and for its efficiency. The Police Commissioner is currently Deputy Chairman of a Committee which is challenging the funding formula in order to access more funding for Essex police.
Jane told the meeting that top priorities within the new Police and Crime Plan include; more local, visible and accessible policing; crack down on anti-social behaviour; breaking the cycle of domestic abuse and reversing the trend in serious violence.
Jane presented some statistics regarding crime against business and answered a range of questions from the audience including queries regarding road safety, theft and how businesses can assist Essex Police.
Ian West, Managing Director at One Marketing Ltd and member of the IoD Essex committee thanked Jane for her informative presentation and Jane encouraged all to contact the Police and Crime Commission office if they required any further information.
