IoD Members and Guests enjoy an insightful visit to Vitec Production Solutions, a hidden gem in Bury St Edmunds
We recently enjoyed a visit to Vitec Production Solutions, part of the Vitec Group, a leading global provider of premium branded products and solutions to the fast moving and growing “image capture and content creation” market. Their customers include broadcasters, independent content creators, photographers and enterprises.
They design, manufacture and distribute high performance products and solutions including camera supports, camera mounted electronic accessories, robotic camera systems, prompters, LED lights, mobile power, monitors and bags.
Worldwide they employ around 1,700 people across the world in 11 different countries and are organised in three Divisions: Imaging Solutions, Production Solutions and Creative Solutions, employing close to 200 people in Bury St Edmunds.
Their new facility is the design home of the company’s teleprompting and broadcast camera support brands, including Autocue, Autoscript, OConnor, Sachtler and Vinten. The factory includes an advanced carbon-fibre cell for the manufacture of the award-winning camera tripod, flowtech™.
Guests enjoyed breakfast, followed by a presentation from VP Mike Dowson and Operations Manager Andy Fairs. Mike gave an overview of the set up of the business which was started back in 1909 by William Viten. A plotted history of the business can be found on their website. We finished the morning with a factory tour and were lucky enough to see in action the robotic machines which build the Flowtech tripods onsite.
