Q: Can you tell us a little about your career to date?

Over 30 years in sales and business development, employed in a number of roles from field sales up to sales director. The last six years as an independent sales consultant, coach and trainer– advising small businesses on all matters relating to sales and entrepreneurship.

Q: What do you hope to achieve as an IoD Branch Ambassador?

Continue contributing to the local business community and being a productive member of society (as per my sustainable business model commitments).

Q: If you could give your 21 year old self some advice what would it be?

(1) Don’t rush to get old

(2) Find yourself a mentor (learn by some of their mistakes)

(3) Take your business seriously but don’t take yourself seriously

Q: What keeps you busy outside of work?

Home Life: Work life balance is important to me. I enjoy family time, supporting my young adult children in their endeavours, reading (I am a published author myself) and maintaining a minimum level of fitness in my everyday life.

Q: Are there any business related or policy issues that keep you awake at night?

The never ending ‘deal or no-deal’ Brexit saga!

Q: Why do you think business leaders should join the IoD?

To take advantage of the IOD’s industry leading personal development resources, to amplify their business voice and to extend their network of influence i.e. your network is your net worth!

Better directors for a better world

The IoD supports directors and business leaders across the UK and beyond to learn, network and build successful, responsible businesses.
