The IoD has appointed James Pinchbeck as Policy Voice Ambassador for the East Midlands.
James is a partner with Streets Chartered Accountants, a mid-tier and multi-regional accountancy practice. He succeeds Natalie Gasson, who has been appointed as branch chair for the IoD Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire branch.
James will lead the IoD’s powerful Policy Voice programme in the region, which enables directors to influence government ministers and policy makers through round tables and surveys.
The IoD has helped to secure vital support for directors during the Covid-19 pandemic, including financial assistance for wage bills and changes to insolvency rules. Through Policy Voice, the IoD provides first-hand reports from members who are dealing with the crisis.
At Streets, James is responsible for the strategic development of marketing and plays a key role in the development of the practice, supporting acquisitions, new offices and the launch of an international association of accountancy, business and tax advisory firms.
He is a non-executive director of national enterprise agency NWES, a Fellow of the IoD and former branch chair. He is chair of Lincoln College of Further Education, Board of Corporation and of the University of Lincoln International Business School Advisory Board. He is also chair of the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership Growth Hub Programme Board.
He said: “Directors need strong representation now more than ever so I’m delighted to be taking on this important role. We must speak up about the issues and challenges we all face and let decision makers know what measures are required to help us to recover and thrive. Whether you are a young entrepreneur or an established director of a large organisation, we want to hear from you.”
Gary Headland, chair of IoD East Midlands, said: “James has a long-standing association with the IoD and is one of the best connected directors in the region. Under his direction, Policy Voice will go from strength to strength as we bring more directors together to share their knowledge and experiences and help us to deliver positive change.”
The IoD is the UK’s number one organisation for directors, providing support, events, professional development and a lobbying voice for all types of business.
