East Midlands branches

The IoD East Midlands is composed of branches in Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire and has more than 1,500 members.

About Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire branch

With around 550 members, the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire branch is ably led by the help of the volunteer committee and IoD staff, provides invaluable support for members and organises a range of inspirational business events in the area.

The branch seeks to bring a mix of education, development, networking, interest and enjoyment to its varied programme for members, all with an eye to making it relevant to the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire business community. We are proud to have been at the forefront of developing close links with local university business schools to encourage youth enterprise, with a significant number of IoD members volunteering to mentor undergraduates in business training exercises and finding this a remarkably stimulating experience.

About Leicestershire branch

The Leicestershire branch of the IoD has more than 400 members, representing city and county, large companies and SMEs, and all sectors of the economy both private and public.

The branch and its associated committee are here to represent the interests of individual directors in Leicestershire and to provide opportunities in professional development and less formal areas of interest for its members.

This is achieved by a varied programme of events throughout the year, sponsored by Nelsons Solicitors, including links with local universities and other branches within the IoD East Midlands region. These events offer great opportunities to meet with and learn from other directors and hear from a variety of fascinating speakers.

We are delighted to welcome all members – and indeed someone thinking about becoming a member.

About Lincolnshire branch

The Lincolnshire branch has around 230 members and is ably led by chairman Gary Headland who, together with IoD staff and the volunteer committee, supports local members and organises inspirational and valuable business events in the area.

The Lincolnshire branch covers a large geographical area from the Humber ports of Grimsby and Immingham in the north to The Wash in the south-east and Stamford in the south-west. Although comparatively small in numbers, with members spread across a wide rural landscape, our membership continues to grow. We have a busy programme of events that includes professional workshops, factory visits, social activities and entertainment.

Lincolnshire has been perceived as being almost exclusively dependent on farming but, although the county boasts some of the most productive and efficient farms in Europe and leading manufacturers and specialists in agriculture, only a small percentage of the population now work in the industry.

More than 10 per cent of the nation's sea-borne trade is handled through the Humberside ports and the south-eastern port of Boston continues to grow in stature. The oil refining and steel-making industry are both in north Lincolnshire, while Lincoln, home to a diversity of specialist manufacturing and engineering companies, is booming. The opening of the University of Lincolnshire has been a fillip for the local economy.

Lincolnshire IoD branch committee works hard to ensure that the county's industry and commerce are well represented in all their diversity and that members have a varied choice of professional and social activities.

About Northamptonshire branch

Representing around 340 members, the Northamptonshire branch is ably led by chairman Sarah Canning who, with the help of the volunteer committee and IoD staff, supports local members and organises inspirational and valuable business events in the area.

The Northamptonshire branch is particularly active, and the branch committee works hard to encourage member participation through a varied range of events that provide opportunities to network and exchange experiences and ideas. We have links with many local business groups as well as the education sector.

East Midlands Mastermind Groups

We have a series of Mastermind groups running across the region where members can meet like-minded individuals from non competing organisations to discuss key issues that they are currently facing in a private forum. The groups meet 10 times a year and are strictly member only.

To find out more about the groups and what they entail then please click here.

If you are interested in joining a Mastermind group then please email Cari Grice with a short bio on yourself and which group you are interested in joining.
