On 29th March we held a joint event with Cass Business School for a discussion with Lady Barbara Judge on various issues related to business, women and engagement.
The well-attended and successful event saw Professor Marianne Lewis, Dean of Cass Business School, interview Lady Barbara, who, among other positions is the first woman Chairman of the Institute of Directors since its formation in 1903, on a wide range of topics.
Professor Paul Palmer formally welcomed the attendees to Cass Business School and provided some information about the School and the history of the annual event. David Stringer-Lamarre Chairman of the IoD City of London branch also provided the opening address to the assembled guests.
The discussion which followed between Professor Lewis and Lady Barbara covered subjects including Brexit, engagement between education and business, the positive contribution of women to commerce and society and a discussion about mentors and sponsors – an extremely wide remit, tackled eloquently and humorously.
The insightful discussion between the two was followed by a lively questions and comments session with the audience. After this, there was the standard IoD City business card draw for a member and non-member prize. The formal proceedings were then concluded with networking over drinks.
