One of the UK’s most respected voices on Brexit, Allie Renison, Head of Europe and Trade Policy at the IoD, will provide her analysis on what leaving the European Union could mean for local businesses.

Allie represents IoD members on EU reform and regularly appears in the national media to discuss the implications of Brexit.

As well as hearing from Allie, guests will have the opportunity to ask questions and debate the key issues arising from Brexit. 

A continental breakfast will be served.

Speakers

Alexandra (Allie) Renison

Allie Renison leads on trade and EU policy for the Institute of Directors, devising recommendations and representing the voice of members on EU reform matters and helping to provide the link between business and Government on increasing international trade. She also routinely provides advocacy for the IoD on a range of regulatory issues in Brussels. She was previously Research Director at Business for Britain, the campaign focused on renegotiating the UK's relationship with the EU. Prior to that, she advised a number of parliamentarians in both Houses on EU legislative issues, with a particular focus on trade and employment policy areas. Allie holds a Master’s Degree in the political economy of emerging economies in the post-Soviet space.

 Victoria Clarke Brown, Finance Director, Distinction Doors Limited
Victoria is a qualified accountant with over 20 years experience in various manufacturing organisations and is currently Finance Director of Distinction Doors Limited; a home improvements group based in Tankersley, Barnsley. Distinction Doors has a turnover of circa £42M and has recently won numerous accolades including The Sunday Times Fasttrack 100 (2014) and the Yorkshire Insider Growth100.
Victoria sits on the South Yorkshire Committee of the Institute of Directors and is a Freeman of the Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire, she is also an LEA Governor for her local High School and is passionate about raising aspiration in girls and young women and encouraging women in the business environment.

  
Harvey Whitford, Technical Director – Testing Circle / Sparta Global
Harvey's career started as a Junior C Dev-in-Test in late 1990s journeying through test automation, performance testing, test management. Built cross-functional teams at Betfair in London, delivering some of their most complex and time-pressured projects during their Agile Transformation before returning north to York. Previous roles included Principal Test Consultant at a Leeds based Consultancy and Head of QA & Head of Academy at SkyBet where launched their first software academy in 2016.

Now Technical Director of Testing Circle & Sparta Global focused on Graduate Training & Software Academies developing next generation of Software Engineers, launching the Leeds office in 2017 with trainees completing their training this week ahead of client placement!

Harvey is passionate about launching careers in Technology for graduates and impacting the critical skills shortage facing the industry which is exacerbated by recent geo-political events.
