The advent of Cyber crime; the rise of General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and how to make sure your business is prepared!
This event from the IoD North West, in association with Clarke Nicklin, CNi Solutions and Gorvins; has been developed in order to provide the audience with an introduction to key areas affecting their businesses, as well as looking towards upcoming future impacts that legislation will have upon them.
There will be three key areas presented by the speakers:
- Cyber Crime- is your business safe?
- GDPR It is coming; is your business ready?
- Disaster recovery; Is your business prepared for the inevitable?
Following these short presentations, there will be a panel debate, where you can ask key questions, relevant to your business.
Christian is a partner in the corporate/commercial team at Gorvins Solicitors and specialises in leading corporate transactions including acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, management buy-outs and private equity across a variety of sectors. Christian acts for owner-managed and family owned businesses in the SME sector providing holistic advice with a particular emphasis on succession planning. Christian is also the dedicated Data Protection specialist at Gorvins advising clients on all aspects of Data Protection and GDPR compliance as well as acting as the Data Protection Officer at Gorvins. This means Christian can give GDPR compliance advice from both the legal perspective and the practical perspective of someone who has also implemented GDPR across an SME organisation.

Neil is the founding director of CNi Solutions. With years’ of experience in the IT industry as a support engineer, 15 of those years running IT businesses, and a passion for starting and building companies with strong client relationships and customer service.
A keen sportsman who likes to push himself to the limits, being involved still in Amateur football, badminton and tennis, and staying in shape by running or cycling.
A father of two daughters and married to Mel, Neil enjoys spending time with his young family, either at the cinema, bowling alley or trips out to places of interest, as well as continuing to try and get all three girls in the house into and/or playing football! Certainly a challenge.
A Manchester City fan at heart, hence the sky blue company colours, Neil never misses a chance, like City do sometimes, to get a new client on board by inviting potential customers to the numerous events that CNi Solutions get involved in.
Martin is a senior executive, assisting a number of select clients on a broad range of strategic and financial matters across several international markets and sectors. He is a Non-Executive Director, Director and Trustee of several organisations.
Martin’s passion for all things IT was born out of his desire to look at ways of streamlining the way that businesses operate. Utilising the latest technology to ensure that client’s businesses are at the forefront of what is possible and that clients can operate a fully supported IT infrastructure, in a cost efficient manner, ensuring the minimal of down time for any client.

In previous positions Martin has worked in several international financial institutions, working within any number of areas across several International locations. As well as in Venture Capital, through Walford Cunningham & Hayes, in which he holds the position of Director, advising on their Portfolio investments.

Martin has gained a BA (Hons) Degree in Business Studies; Entrepreneurship and Business Strategy, from the Nottingham Trent Business School, and is an experienced and accomplished facilitator, Mentor and Investor.
